Unboxing My Berkey Water Filter
Today I will show you the unboxing of my Berkey water filter. You will see everything that I received to put together the best water filter. I received the 2.25 gallon “Big Berkey”.
Did you know that Berkey isn’t just a water filter but also a water purifier?? Just one reason why it is so great.

Delivery day. The Berkey is here!
Lets check out what’s inside the box:
After the excitement calmed down knowing that my Berkey came, lets take the first peek inside the box. Upon opening the cardboard box I noticed how nicely the Berkey was wrapped and shipped. The stainless steel body and filters were in another box and the stand and spigot were wrapped up next to it.
I ordered the 2.25 gallon “Big Berkey” they call it. The reason I got this one and not the next size up was because I would like to take this in our RV as well and I though this size was the best fit for us.
The Stand
I got the stand for my Berkey to sit on. Here it is all wrapped up. This a a very sturdy stand with for legs and helps keep your Berkey up higher if you prefer.
The Stainless Steel Spigot
So, for my Berkey I upgraded to the stainless steel spigot. You don’t have to upgrade. It comes with a black plastic spigot if you choose not to upgrade.
I decided to get the stainless steel one because we have kids that might be rough with it and I wanted to travel with it in our RV.
Berkey Filters
What can I say, these filters are amazing! They just don’t filter your water but they also purify your water. It comes with two black filters.
There is room for four filters. So, you can either get two more black filters or they sell two white filters that filter out fluoride. You can chose the filter configuration that you want.
Two black Berkey filters will filter 6,000 gallons of water and remove over 200 plus containments.
You can learn all about the black Berkey water filters on Berkey.com.
I am just sticking with the two black filters for now. Here is what they look like outside of the box. To install the filters you do need to prime them before you put them in.
The Berkey
Here is the Berkey canister getting unwrapped. What a beauty she is.
It came very nicely wrapped and mine had no defects. It comes with two canisters. The top one is where the filters go and the bottom one is where the collected filter water waits to be poured out of the spigot.
The Lid
The Berkey also comes with a lid for the top. (It comes with a handle too, it was not in this photo)
After you fill up the Berkey you put the the lid on to cover the water. The lid also makes it easy to see if you need to refill the top canister.
We have started a ritual at the end of the night by asking who has filled the Berkey that day. It seems that I fill it the most. 🙂
Berkey
Here is my Berkey after I unboxed her and put her together in my kitchen. For me, I do like the look of the stainless steel filter in my kitchen.
I’ll have to move it around my kitchen and find the perfect spot. I can’t wait to share pictures of it with you in the future.
Where do you keep your Berkey?
Thank you for coming along with me while I unboxed my Berkey water filter. I also made a video of me unboxing it too. Check that out below on my YouTube channel.
