The Melanie Cowl Crochet Pattern

Introducing the Melanie Cowl Crochet Pattern. Easy beginner crochet pattern that uses only one skein of yarn. The Melanie cowl in a super bulky yarn weight will keep you warm in the cold weather.

Get wrapped up in this super comfy and cute cowl this winter. You will have this whipped up in no time!

This super bulky yarn has a hint of alpaca incorporated in it. I just love the touch of alpaca in this yarn. Furthermore, I picked this color because it reminded me of the modern country farmhouse colors that I like. The neutral soft color goes with lots of different outfits.

We set out one chilly afternoon to take a walk on the bike trail. Deciding it was a perfect time to take photos of the cowl I created. So, it was just about freezing that day, it was pretty chilly. The Melanie cowl worked perfectly to keep my neck warm and did not let any cold gusts of air give me a chill.

The cowl lays great around the neck. Even more, you can also tuck your hair in and pull it up over your ears.

The yarn

The yarn I chose for this cowl was bought at Joann fabric store. Here is a link for this yarn.

Only at Joann’s is this beautiful buttercream luxe craft alpaca super bulky yarn.

I also always use My favorite crochet hooks.

A little story as to why I chose this yarn. Every year I go to the sheep and wool festival. Except this year because of covid it was closed, but hopefully it will be open again this year. Fingers crossed. It is my favorite autumn outdoor event. Anyways, I always buy skeins of mohair. There’s something that I like about the way it has a wispy character to it. So when I saw the alpaca at the store I wanted to give it a try. The only difference is that mohair comes from a goat and alpaca well, comes from an alpaca.

Another place that I love to get yarn online is a store called LoveCrafts. They have all the yarn and yarn supplies that I love and use. Check out the LoveCrafts store here.

The cowl

Here is the finished cowl. Even though this is a super bulky yarn, I like how this wispy stitch matches the wispy character of the yarn.

The Melanie Cowl

The top and bottom give you the support you need, where you need it. For instance, the single crochet give it the stability at the top and bottom to keep the cowl in place without flopping all over the place. But in the middle the stitches give you the flexibility to mold and move around comfortably.

The finished design

In the end, this easy beginner cowl is super quick to work up and leaves a beautiful, elegant, modern crochet style to adorn your winter attire.
