The Yarn

When I think about baby blankets I think of two things, big soft chunky blankets and small dainty lacey blankets. This blanket is going to be leaning towards the small and dainty. The yarn is from Bernat baby sport line in #3 light yarn. Which makes this a thin yarn to work with. It makes for smaller stitches. When using a #3 size yarn with this pattern I used a 5.5mm crochet hook.

I used the color baby taupe for this simple crochet baby blanket. I like to use the simple natural shades but of course you can use whatever color you like.

Yarn:

Color:

Baby Taupe

The Design

Designing this simple baby blanket I did exactly that. I kept the pattern simple. I added a little flare by alternating stitches but using simple stitches. In an easy repeat pattern, you can see it makes this blanket look intricate but its super simple to make. By repeating 2 different stitches every other time creates a simple but pleasing visual pattern.

The pattern repeats as this; 4 rows of spider stitches and 4 rows of single crochets, that’s it!

The Pattern:

Chain 130

Row 1: * skip 1st chain from hook ( sc, ch1, sc ) in chain, repeats from * to end, sc in last ch

Row 2-4: ch2, turn. Repeat row 1

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st ch. sc in each sc across (130)

Row 6-8: repeat row 5

Row 9-12: Ch 2, turn, repeat row 1

Row 9 – 12: Ch 2, turn repeat row 1

Row 13-16: Repeat row 5

Repeat rows 9 – 16

Finish off, weave in ends

The Blanket

When its all done the blanket will measure a 33 in x 33 in square.

You will have used the entire skein of yarn for this blanket.
