What is a blog?

A blog is a “weblog” that you create online using a hosting service and a website platform. A blog is something that you can write in everyday if you wish and you get to share your knowledge about topics that you love with other people on the internet.

When you create a blog you want to pick one niche to focus on. Choose a niche that you know well and can write about it often. This could be any topic such as a hobby you love or maybe something that involves your day to day work.

How do you make a blog?

To create a blog online you will need to make a website. First, you need to pick a hosting service to host your website. I use Bluehost for my website.

Then, you will need to a website platform to create your posts for your website. I use WordPress to create my posts.

Once you have those two things set up you can start creating blogs and start publishing them on the internet and sharing them on social media too.

Ways to monetize your blog

There are a few ways bloggers make money with their blogs. I will leave a list here and explain how they make money with each one.

Advertise on your blog – you can put ads on your blog and make ad revenue from those ads. I currently use Google Ad sense.

Offer paid subscriptions – you can sell subscriptions on your blog and make money every month from those subscriptions.

Sell merchandise  – Selling things that you make on your blog is another way. You can share you Etsy shop or sell e-books on your website.

Become an affiliate – Being an affiliate means you partner with a business and they give you a commission when you sell one of their products.

Sponsor posts – You can have companies pay you to write a review post for one of their products.

YouTube – YouTube is a great if you like to make video content. You have to follow their guidelines to get accepted into their monetization program.

Online courses – If you love to teach, you can make and sell a course online.

Build your reputation and promote your blog

The best way to make money with your blog is to promote it!

You want to build your reputation and get follows to read your blog. Building trust with your readers is key to making them keep following you and to have them read and also share your content.

A great way to get yourself out there is to share content on social media accounts, such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

Pinterest is where I see most of my traffic. It is a search engine for craft, DIY, recipes and décor idea.

When using social media you want to make sure you schedule regular posts to keep people engaged and show that you also care about what you putting out there.

E-mail marketing is the most personal way to connect to your readers and promote yourself.

Collaborate with other bloggers

You can reach out to other bloggers and collaborate with them to even extend your reach to more people.

Collaborating with other bloggers could be that you share each others blog website links on your website, you share their content on social medias, and you invite each other on your pod casts.

Q & A’s are also a neat way to share information about each other and what you write about.

To recap

In the end as you can see there are quite a few ways you can make money with your blog. The sky is the limit with what you can create on your website and your earning potential. Good luck on your blogging endeavor.
