Fox Mosaic Craft

Are you looking for a fun craft to keep the kids and their friends busy? This fox mosaic craft is an fun craft to make.

My daughter and I created this craft for her birthday celebration at school. We needed a simple craft that was easy and quick for the kids to make.

My daughter loves foxes and insisted that she have a fox craft. After searching the stores and the internet, we came up with the idea that we would make our own. So, we came up with this totally customized craft for her birthday.

Supplies

You will need wooden fox cut outs. Foam sheets in orange, white and black, giggly eyes, scissors, glue and ribbon.

After searching the internet for what seemed liked days to find a wooden fox, I found these adorable ones on Etsy.

Preparing the fox

So to make it easy for the kids to glue the mosaic tiles to the wooden fox I make an outline of the face. This way they had some idea where to place the pieces.

Using a pencil I made light marks for the nose and ears.

Foam

Now, cut a small black nose out of the foam sheet. Also, cut out 2 white triangles for the ears.

Take the white and orange foam sheets and cute a 1/4 inch stripe. Then take that 1/4 in stripe and cut that into small pieces. Continue cutting pieces till you have a small pile. Making sure you have enough to cover the whole wooden fox face.

Don’t worry if the pieces are not all exactly the same size. It actually helped that they were a little different in sizes. It helps when having to go around corners or fill in any gaps.

Assemble the mosaic

Start by using Elmer’s glue to glue down the nose, eyes and ears. Then, add more glue to a small area and start arranging, the mosaic tiles. Start with one color and moving in small sections so the glue doesn’t dry. Then move onto the other color to finish it up.

All the mosaic tile pieces are placed. Isn’t this a cute fox??

Ribbon

If you would like to use some ribbon to make a hook to hang your fox mosaic craft up then hot glue a piece to the back.

Cut a piece of ribbon about 6 inches long and put a dab of hot glue on the back top center. Stick the ribbon to it.

It is also nice when you make crafts like this to write the year on the back of them so you can remember when you made it.

Completed craft

Here is a completed fox mosaic. You can hang fridge for everyone to see.

We saved ours to hang on our Christmas tree next year.

Mosaic sets

As I mentioned earlier in the post, we made this for my daughters class for her birthday celebration. I made this fox mosaic into kits for each kid.

Each kid gets everything they need to make their own mosaic craft.

I got some small boxes and added little poly bags full of the foam tiles in the white and orange colors. There was also a small bag with a nose, eyes and ears for each fox. I also added a small glue pod and paint brush to spread the glue.

They were a hit! The kids loved them.
